How to play golf efficiently:

"How many professional golfers could set a world record in the 100 dash? Golf is not a race, however golf is an exercise!" R.V.D.

As President I field a lot of questions about the directors tournaments.   The most common question is how can I play faster.

Here is the answer :

Main Points - go directly to your ball - determine distance and be ready to hit - play ready golf, if you are ready, hit -  limit your practice swings to 2 - read your putt while others are getting ready to putt - when it's your turn putt out - move to the next tee box while others are putting out.

1. Play ready golf. Don't wait to hit, if you are ready HIT!

2. Try to limit your practice swings to 2.  You can take other practice swings when it is not your turn.

3. Short hitters should be first to tee off if possible.  They should tee off as soon as it is safe.

4.  Once you tee off go to your ball determine your distance get the appropriate club and let your partner go to his ball to do the same.

5. After you hit walk towards the middle of the fairway and towards your riding partner. Once he hits he should jump into the cart and pick you up.

6.  Upon reaching the green read your putt. If you are the furthest from the hole then you should putt and continue to putt until you've putted the ball in the hole. This is called putting-out.

7. After the first player putts out then he should pickup the flag and wait for the others to putt out. When the second player holes his putt he should proceed to the next tee box and tee off when it is safe. Player 3,4,5 should follow after they have putted out, the player with the flag should replace the flag and continue to the next tee box.

8. Write the score on the card after you've gotten to the next tee box.

Know where you are in relation to the group ahead of you...they should never get to a green before you are ready to tee off.

Strive to finish each hole within 14 minutes (4hrs 20min round)
